Braille Challenge at Vista Eye Center
The Northern California Regional Braille Challenge is an annual competition and literacy event designed to promote and celebrate the skills of students who are blind or visually impaired, focusing on their mastery of braille. It’s part of the National Braille Challenge, a nation wide contest organized by the Braille Institute of America, which aims to encourage youth who use braille as an essential tool for literacy. Braille Challenge competition is hosted by Vista Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired in partnership with California School for the Blind and SF LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
Cane Training at Vista Eye Center
White canes are essential tools to provide access to mobility and navigation. Join us at Vista Eye Center for a sight cane training session to learn the basics of using a white cane. Non visually impaired are also welcome.

Navigating The Mental Health Crisis (ONGOING WEB EVENT)
The Mental Health Crisis’ impact is clear. Between 2019-2020, mental health-related ER visits increased 24% among children ages 5-11, 31% for 12-17. (NIH) A 2021 Harvard study reports 61% of people ages 18-25 experiencing profound loneliness. How can we address this silent crisis?
This event will serve to facilitate discussion on this crisis. Look out for weekly podcast episodes, interviews with key figures in mental health research, and inspiring articles on how we can navigate a mental health together.
